Last news about Mogador Dx-pediton 2009!

We plan to arrive in Marrakesh on 18th April early afternoon and soon transfer to Essaouira. We have to get original lycenses and local permission from Gendarmerie Royale Marine (GRM) to go on the island. We need also to get generators. We believe that we will not be able to reach Mogador before 19th in the morning, so first QSO could be in the early afternoon.
Our plans are to have 2 or more stations active on the island, depending on the power we will have. We will use from Mogador island the 5C2J callsign; from Essaouira each of us will use his 5C2 callsign. Operations will stop on 25th, because on 26Th some of us will be back home and some others will have some more days in Marrakesh - Rabat. We do hope to be able to transmit from there too.

Simon, IZ7ATN next 5C2SG, arrived yesterday in Rabat and got the lycences from ARRAM. Today he plans to go to Essaouira in order to receive the permission from local GRM and organize last things. Tomorrow the rest of the team will fly to Marrakesh.

Today we have not been able to reach the island because of the wind. We'll try tomorrow.

Today finally wind and sea conditions could have allowed us to reach the island.
This morning, while we were ready to go, with our big surprise, local authorities did not allowed us to reach Mogador island.
We are trying to solve these unexpected problems, but unfortunately we have to say everybody that chances are really few.
